With the last day of transfers for the MLS, NYCFC has sit still. They only traded players away, but didn’t acquire anybody!
American websites are pretty quiet about this, but here in Europe, it’s a HYPE!!!
RVP, the man who came to Arsenal, became a hero and betrayed them for Man UTD., scored a brilliant header in the 2014 World Cup against Spain and all-time leading topscorer of the Dutch National Team, is currently playing for Fenerbache in Turkey.
However, several European and Dutch websites and soccer themed magazines say that RVP is linked to Barcelona, Arsenal, Man UTD., Man City, Galatasaray, Feyenoord, Leicester City, PSG and NYCFC! This is not strange, as fellow Dutchman Wesley Sneijder has previously stated that a move to America is possible in the future and van Persie himself isn’t the kind of player who would go to China, of course he wants money, but he is also desperate for fame. And let the MLS be more popular around the world, than China (nobody even knows what the name of that league is, right?).
Another argument, is that Nigel de Jong of LA Galaxy is playing here in America. The two were enemies in the Eredivisie with de Jong playing for Ajax and van Persie for Feyenoord. But as teammates of the Dutch National Team, they know eachother quite well and nowadays, everybody is saying that teammates of National Teams need to play in their league, for example: Hector Moreno went from Español to PSV Eindhoven, because Andres Guardado convinced him.
But is the almost 33-year-old valuable to us? The answer is yes.
Sure, he’s beloved and hated by many people and he isn’t quite at his best. But maybe that’s what he needs, to go to America and find back his form. He plays at a number 9 or a number 9,5 position (9,5 is between the striker and the central midfielder). That way you could get Iraola back in the defense, and have an experienced midfield, who is attacking enough, so NYCFC becomes a thread to every MLS defense.
What do you think? Would this be a great signing? Let me know in the comments!
